Fact Check: Indian Army officer Amitabh Jha killed in Israeli airstrikes near Golan Heights?

Pakistani and anti-India propaganda accounts are claiming that Indian Army officer Brigadier Amitabh Jha was accidentally killed in Israeli airstrikes near the Golan Heights. However, these claims are false and unfounded. According to the Indian Army, Brigadier Jha, who was serving as the Deputy Force Commander with the United Nations Disengagement Observer Force (UNDOF) in the region, passed away due to medical reasons, not in any airstrike. 

Making a post on X (Formerly Twitter) serial fake news peddler and propagandist account @SAnPerspective wrote, “An Indian Army officer was accidentally killed by Israeli airstrikes near Golan Heights.”

Another propaganda account @TacticalTribun also made a post and wrote, “Israel Army has killed Indian Army Brigadier Amitabh Jha. He was deployed on a UN Mission in Golan Heights.”

The truth behind the claims about Amitabh Jha, Fact Check 

As soon as the posts containing the claims came to our notice. Subsequently, we conducted research and analysis regarding the incident and found that Brigadier Amitabh Jha was not killed in an Israeli airstrike.

To verify the claims made by propagandists. We performed relevant keyword searches and found a statement on the official X account of the Indian Army. The Army stated, that General Upendra Dwivedi COAS and All Ranks of the Indian Army express deepest condolences on the untimely demise of Brigadier Amitabh Jha due to medical reasons, who was deployed on a #UN Mission as Deputy Force Commander (DFC) in United Nations Disengagement Observer Force (UNDOF), Golan Heights. The officer was also the Acting Force Commander of the mission. Indian Army stands firm with the bereaved family in this hour of grief.

Therefore, it is evident from verified sources that Brigadier Amitabh Jha passed away due to medical reasons, not in any airstrike.
