Pakistan-based propaganda accounts falsely claim that Bangladesh has seized 1,008 km² of Indian territory during recent border clashes. This claim, including a statement by a Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) officer about taking control of a 5-km stretch in North 24 Parganas, has been debunked. The Border Security Force (BSF) clarified there has been no territorial change, dismissing the statement as baseless and provocative.

BSF Deputy Inspector General (South Bengal Frontier) NK Pandey dismissed the statement as “baseless and irresponsible,” asserting that there has been no change on the ground. Pandey emphasized that the BGB commander’s claim was an attempt to provoke tensions, adding, “We continue to use boats to patrol the river. There has been no change in our access to the Kodala river.”
