Pakistan-based anti-India propaganda networks are circulating unfounded claims that Indonesia has canceled its BrahMos cruise missile agreement with India, citing alleged false specifications and referencing the purported July 2024 launch site explosions in the Philippines. However, these assertions are entirely baseless and lack any factual basis. Reliable and verified sources confirm that Indonesia has indeed moved forward with the deal, and India is currently in the final stages of securing a $450 million agreement to export BrahMos supersonic cruise missiles to Indonesia.
Making a post on X (Formerly Twitter) serial fake news peddler and propagandist account @PSYWAROPS wrote, “#Indonesia has decisively rejected #India’s
BrahMos supersonic cruise missile, citing fake specifications and the July 2024 launch site explosions in the #Philippines
, which exposed serious safety and reliability concerns.”

Another propaganda account @TacticalTribun also made a post and wrote, “Indonesia has rejected India’s BrahMos cruise missile. The rejection comes after: – Fake stated specs. The incident of launch site explosions in Philippines (July 2024)”.

Several other users and propagandists have also disseminated the claims. Their posts can be seen here, @asadnasir2000, @TelegraphPak, @Defence_PK99, @DemocraticEcho_.
The truth behind the claims related to BrahMos missile, Fact Check
As soon as the posts containing the claims made by propagandists came to our notice. Subsequently, we conducted research and analysis regarding the claims. We found that these claims were false and fabricated.
To verify the claims made by propagandists. We performed relevant keyword searches but couldn’t find any verified, credible or official sources supporting these claims. During research, we found reports (1, 2, 3) suggesting that Indonesia has, in fact, initiated the deal, and India is in the final stages of finalizing a $450 million agreement to export BrahMos supersonic cruise missiles to Indonesia. This would make Indonesia the second ASEAN nation, after the Philippines, to acquire these missiles.
Furthermore, the rumor about a BrahMos missile exploding in the Philippines was debunked by D-Intent Data when it first surfaced and is also false.
