Our investigation led us to reports by Hindustan Times and @htTweets, which confirmed that security forces launched an anti-terror operation in Kathua after terrorists opened fire on a patrolling team. Officials stated that Pakistan-based Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) terrorists initiated firing during a cordon and search operation, which triggered the encounter.
