Fact Check: Scripted video of a teenage girl pretending to be pregnant circulated with misleading claims

A video featuring a young girl (seemingly pregnant) throwing pink powder into the air has gone viral, accompanied by false claims that she became pregnant at the age of 9. However, these claims are entirely untrue and misleading. The girl in the video is named Nahal, a social media influencer whose content is carefully managed by her parents. She is just pretending to be a pregnant woman, nothing to do with reality. The Instagram account is based in Iran.

Sharing the video on X (Formerly Twitter) @ImtiazMadmood wrote, “This girl is only 9 years old and she is already pregnant. Her only ‘fault’ was that she was born in a Muslim Country.”

Several other users and Influencers have also shared the video and made similar claims. Their posts can be seen here, @TechThinking185, @Travelpeople09 @MrPitbull07

The truth about the viral video shared as pregnant teenage girl, Fact Check

As soon as the posts containing the video and claims came to our notice. Subsequently, we conducted research and analysis of the video. We found that the video was not a real-life situation but a scripted content.

To verify the users’ claims, we conducted a reverse image search on keyframes from the viral video using Google Lens. This search led us to an Instagram post featuring the same visuals (1, 2). The video was originally uploaded to the account @nahalabbarinn, which is managed by her parents. The girl is an artist who creates content on social media.

Therefore, it is evident from verified sources that the video was not real but scripted content.
