Fact check: Video of New Year celebrations in Naples falsely shared as celebration of Israel-Hamas ceasefire deal in Yemen

A video showing a nighttime cityscape from an elevated perspective, illuminated by countless lights and vibrant fireworks, has been shared with claims that it depicts people in Yemen joyfully celebrating the ceasefire in Gaza. However, upon verification, it has been determined that the video is unrelated to the Israel-Palestine conflict.

Sharing the video on X (Formerly Twitter) @Saba_speak wrote, “Yemen’s capital Sanaa was punished like a bride……Gaza’s victory is Yemen’s victory…… #FreePalestine”. (Translated from Hindi).

Several other users, influencers and propagandists have also disseminated the video and made similar claims. Their posts can be seen here, @qayadat_network, @Azeem19862, @AkilKhan313.

The truth about the video shared as Israel-Hamas ceasefire deal, Fact Check 

As soon as the posts containing the video and claims came to our notice. Subsequently, we conducted research and analysis of the video. We found that the video was not from Yemen but a New Year 2025 celebration from Naples, Italy.

To verify the claims made by the users. We performed a reverse image search of some key frames from the viral video using Google Lens. This led us to an Instagram post containing the video uploaded on January 1, 2025. According to the original or initial posts, the video was recorded during the New Year celebrations in 2025 in Naples, Italy. Hence, It was unrelated to the Israel-Palestine conflict. Additionally, media outlets also reported the video and celebrations.

Therefore, it is evident from D-Intent Data’s Fact Check that the video was not from Yemen but a New Year 2025 celebration from Naples, Italy.
