Video Of Chinese “Track-Laying Machine” From Malaysia Falsely Being Linked to India: Fact-Check 

A “track-laying machine” in a video purporting to be from India has gone viral.

Verified accounts on twitter, including the Hindu Sena (“@theHindu_Sena“) claimed that the video of the track laying machine is from India. The user added “This is the technology of today’s India. Which the government could not launch in the last 60 years because the tax money of the people of India was being deposited in Swiss banks.” . The tweet was made on Jan 27, 2024, which has received an about 153.1k views on X.

Several other accounts, including Satya Chaudhary (“@satyagodara“) also made the same claim that India is advancing with the latest technologies. Railway track laying is done in a matter of days rather than years due to technological advancements. The archive can be read from above.

What is the Actual Truth About this Incident? : Fact

In actuality, this video, which was shot on Malaysia’s East Coast Rail Link, features a Chinese “CCPG500A” track-laying device that was created by CRSIC. It is not related to India.

We visited CCCME, which shows the product details with the caption “CCPG500 Long-track Layer Set”. It is a Long-track layer set which is an extra large railway construction equipment designed for CWR tracking laying across sections.

@Echinanews tweeted “Photos taken show the first track for the East Coast Rail Link (ECRL) project is underway with the CCPG500A track laying machine in Kuantan, Malaysia on Monday. ECRL is a mega rail project in Malaysia being built by a Chinese company.” on Dec 12, 2023.

The offical account of @CRECofficial tweeted “#Malaysia‘s East Coast Rail Link (#ECRL) has begun track laying! It is one of the largest single transportation infrastructure projects undertaken by Chinese enterprises overseas. This track-laying uses the CCPG500A track-laying machine developed by CRSIC (subordinate to #CREC).” and shared the pictured on Dec 21, 2023.
