What is the Actual Truth About this Incident? : Fact
In actuality, these assertions are unfounded and untrue. These individuals are not innocent; rather, they are criminals who have committed robberies and other crimes. These individuals are members of the terror group Kuki-Chin National Front (KNF); the same militant group recently carried out a bank robbery and kidnapped a branch manager in Bandarban. 53 KNF members have been caught by the Bangladeshi army and police in Bandarban, and a cache of weapons, arms and equipment has been found on them. We visited The Daily Star, which published an article on this incident on April 8, 2024 with the headline “53 KNF members detained during operations in Bandarban”. 53 KNF members have been taken into custody in two different operations by Bangladeshi army and police personnel in Bandarban. There are eighteen women in custody. Lalchiam Bom, an assistant cashier at Sonali Bank in Ruma upazila, was also arrested as a result of the operations; she is being questioned at the moment. During the operations, law enforcement forces also brought seven weapons, ammunition, and KNF-related supplies. For more clarification, we also went to Dhaka Tribune, which wrote about this in an article on April 8, 2024 with the heading “54 KNF members detained during operations in Bandarban”. The detainees from the police operation were identified as Vannanun Moy Bom, Jemeniyu Bom, and Ame Lanchao Bom, residents of Simtlangpi Para in Ruma upazila, while the arrested driver was named Md Kofil Uddin Sagar, 28 from Thanchi. Raihan Kazemi, the Additional Superintendent of Police, further disclosed that 49 people from Ruma, three from Bandarban, and one from Thanchi were taken into custody and taken to the district headquarters of Bandarban for additional processing. Hospitals have been told by the district administration to stay on high alert and get ready to treat patients and injured people as soon as possible. As security forces carry up their attempts to neutralise any possible threats brought about by insurgent activity in the area, the situation is still unstable.
