Bhadohi, Uttar Pradesh — Video Of Anti-encroachment Drive Circulated With Casteist Angle: Fact-Check 

Images from the anti-encroachment drive are making the rounds, purporting to show that homes owned by OBC community (Yadav, Maurya, and Teli) people are being demolished.

@Tanvirpost tweeted “Uttar Pradesh Bhadohi On the 8th day of the celebration of the construction of Ram temple built on the Babri Masjid in Ayodhya, the bulldozer of the Uttar Pradesh government ran into the houses of the people of Yadav Maurya Teli Ja in Bhadohi. If there is a fire, we will come home in a few minutes. There are only a few houses of Muslims here.” on Feb 5, 2024.

Verified accounts on twitter, including Ali Sohrab (“@007AliSohrab“) tweeted “Yadav, Maurya, Teli…. Today he has become the biggest advocate of Hindutva…” on Feb 6, 2024. The user further added the tweet made by @Tanvirpost.

Several other accounts, including @UTTAMYKT, Firdaus Fiza (“@fizaiq“), @IPSinghSp, The Indian Hunk (“@Ajeet_Voice“), @Mahendr79633482 also made the same claim that the houses of people belonging to the OBC category , including Yadav, Maurya, and Teli are being demolished. What is the Actual Truth About this Incident? : Fact

The truth is that notice and court orders were previously served to the owners of these illegally constructed homes on encroached government land that had been built. Religion or caste have no bearing on this incident.

District Magistrate Bhadohi (“@DM_Bhadohi“) tweeted “ग्रा.कसीदहा,तहसील ज्ञानपुर मे मा.उच्च न्यायालय से प्राप्त आदेश के अनुपालन मे तालाब अराजी सं १८२३ रक्बा १.१८९ हेक्टेयर पर अवैध अतिक्रमण मकान को विधिक प्रकिया के अंतर्गत(धारा ६७बेदखली व नोटिस की कार्यवाही के उपरांत) राजस्व व पुलिस की संयुक्त टीम द्वारा ध्वस्तीकरण कार्यवाही की गईहैं” on Feb 5, 2024.
