Several users, influencers have shared the video with the claim that fire broke out in a Saudi Airlines plane carrying 225 Haj pilgrims returning to India and making an emergency landing in Peshawar, Pakistan. However, D-Intent Data has found that these claims are not true. The Saudia Flight SV792 was not carrying Haj pilgrims from India, and it was not an emergency landing.

Several users, influencers have shared the video of passengers disembarking from the plane in a hurry at Peshawar airport in Pakistan.

Sharing the video, an account @CHAMBAL_WALE on X (Formerly Twitter) said. Big news – A Saudi Airlines plane returning to India with Hajj pilgrims caught fire. 225 Hajj pilgrims were present in the plane which made an emergency landing in Peshawar, Pakistan, this time they survived.

Another account @newsnowlivee on X shared the video and said. Big breaking- Fire breaks out in Saudi Airlines plane returning to India with Haj pilgrims, makes emergency landing in Peshawar, Pakistan. 225 Haj pilgrims were present in the plane. Later the post was deleted.

While sharing the video, @RaghvendrA2Y wrote, “Fire breaks out in a Saudi Airlines plane returning to India with Haj pilgrims, emergency landing in Peshawar, Pakistan. There were 225 Haj pilgrims in the plane.I pray to God to keep everyone safe.”

Truth about the viral video of Saudia Flight SV792, Fact Check

As soon as the posts containing the video of passengers disembarking from the plane came to our knowledge. We conducted research and found reports about the viral video. According to the Dawn News. A Saudi Airlines flight SV792 from Riyadh caught fire upon landing at Peshawar’s Bacha Khan International Airport on Thursday(11 July 2024).

According to Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) spokesperson Saifullah, air traffic controllers witnessed smoke and sparks emanating from the left-hand side landing gear of the aircraft as it landed and alerted the pilots. At the same time, they informed the airport fire and rescue services. Reaching the scene, CAA fire vehicles were able to extinguish the flames engulfing the landing gear. All 276 passengers and 21 crew members were safely evacuated.

Hence, it is evident from D-Intent Data’s Fact Check that the flight was not carrying Haj pilgrims from India and it caught fire during the landing at Peshawar airport.
