Fact Check: A Hindu woman sings ‘Namo Namo Shankara’ in response to a Muslim individual offering Namaz on a flight?

Recently, a video has been circulated with the claim that a Muslim man began performing Namaz on a plane, and a courageous Hindu woman responded by singing “Namo Namo Shankara.”  However, D-Intent Data has found that this claim is inaccurate and unfounded. The video actually features singer Nisha Shivdasani, who performed on the plane to celebrate International Women’s Day in 2024.

Sharing the video on X (Formerly Twitter) propagandist account @SaffronSunanda wrote, “A Muslim man started reading Namaz inside a plane. A brave Hindu woman started singing Namo Namo Shankara. We need more such brave women in India and less pseudo liberal women”. Later, her post disappeared from X due to suspension on the account.

The truth about the video shared as Hindu woman singing ‘Namo Namo Shankara’ in front of Namazi, Fact Check

As soon as the posts containing the video and claims came to our notice. Subsequently, we conducted research and analysis of the video and found that the video was unrelated to any kind of religious disharmony.

To verify the claims made by the users. We performed a reverse image search of some key frames from the viral video on Google Lens. This led us to a YouTube video featuring the same woman wearing the same outfit and surrounded by the same passengers. The video was uploaded on the ‘SAI ki beti Nisha Shivdasani Niisha Shivdasani’ YouTube channel on March 8, 2024. In this video, she can be heard wishing Women’s Day and subsequently starting singing “Tu Kitni Achhi Hai,”.

Moreover, at that time, nobody was seen offering Namaz on the flight. The video was recorded on the flight of Indigo Airlines.

Additionally, we found Nisha Shivdasani is a devotional singer and her several events schedule 1, 2 can be found on her official Instagram account.

Therefore, it is evident from D-Intent Data’s Fact Check that the video was not related to religious disharmony.
