Fact Check: The video shows a young boy spitting on a garland of flowers is not from India 

A video depicting a young boy drinking water and creating a fountain from his mouth to pour on a garland of flowers in a public space has been circulated, claiming it to be an incident outside a Hindu temple involving a Muslim boy. The incident is being projected as it is from India. However, the video is actually from Pakistan, and there is no credible evidence suggesting that the boy was selling the garland to Hindus outside a temple or any religious site. 

Sharing the video on X (Formerly Twitter) serial fake news peddler and propagandist account @RealBababanaras wrote. Mohammad Junaid caught spitting on flowers and garland before selling to Hindus for Puja. Before you buy anything for Diwali Puja, please figure out who is selling ? Purity is necessary for worship.

As soon as the posts containing the video and claims came to our notice. Subsequently, we conducted research and analysis of the video and found that the video was not from India and there are no verified sources supporting the claims. 

To verify the claims made by the users. We performed a reverse image search of some key frames from the viral video on Google Lens. But couldn’t find any verified source regarding the video. Further, we inspected the video and found that there is a vehicle in the background wearing a vehicle number “AQV 503” the format commonly used in Pakistan.

Additionally, using the vehicle details checking website (excise.gos.pk), we found that the vehicle is registered in Sindh, Pakistan. However, we couldn’t find the exact location and the date of the video. But it is clear that the video was not from India. Also, there is no credible evidence suggesting that the boy was selling the garland to Hindus outside a temple or any religious site.
