Images showing a man lighting firecrackers to celebrate a new scooter, resulting in fire and disaster as the scooter burns completely are being shared with claims that the incident occurred in India. While the images are real, they are not from India. They originate from China and were shared by Chinese social media accounts.
A propaganda account, @AsianDigest, shared the images with the caption:
“PJeet celebrates a new scooter”, mocking Indian culture.

Several other users, including @mrjethwani_, amplified the same claim across social media, suggesting the incident reflects recklessness in Indian celebrations.
Truth: Viral Scooter Fire Images Are from China, Not India
As the images started spreading widely online, they quickly caught our attention. The D-Intent Data Team immediately start the investigation. using reverse image search and frame-by-frame analysis. We found that these photos weren’t taken in India at all they actually originated in China. The same visuals were first posted by a Chinese Instagram user, @tiredthandog, and also appeared in a tweet by @zhe_wang71411. The incident was even reported by a Chinese media outlet, damdaworld.com. A closer look at the images reveals clear signs: a signboard with Chinese characters in the background and a scooter model linked to a Chinese brand.

These details make it clear that this wasn’t an Indian mishap — it’s being wrongly portrayed that way online.
