Pakistani propaganda accounts are sharing a digitally altered video of Lt Gen Manoj Kumar Katiyar with the false claim that he admitted India was “badly humiliated” by Pakistan during Operation Sindoor. The viral posts also misidentify him as the Indian Army Chief, which is incorrect. The edited clip falsely portrays him confessing a military defeat, but no such statement was ever made.
The propagandist account @Baba_Thoka shared the edited video and claimed:
“Breaking: India’s Army Chief has admitted they were badly humiliated in Operation Sindoor by Pakistan. A rare moment when a nuclear military openly confesses a defeat on record.”

Truth: Original ANI Video Shows Lt Gen Manoj Katiyar Made No Such Statement
As the false claim gained traction on social media, it drew our attention. The D-Intent Data Team conducted a detailed frame-by-frame investigation and keyword research. While analysing the footage, we tracked the logo and located the original video. The caption in the viral clip falsely identifies Lt Gen Manoj Kumar Katiyar as the Army Chief, which immediately raised doubts. Our investigation led us to the ANI News YouTube channel, which had posted the original video titled “Manoj Kumar Katiyar, GOC Western Command speaks on Pakistan | Op Sindoor | Exercise ‘RAM PRAHAR’.” The genuine video shows Lt Gen Manoj Kumar Katiyar giving an official briefing on military exercises and security preparedness. He does not say anything about India being “humiliated” in Operation Sindoor, nor does he admit any defeat. None of the statements circulating in the viral edited clip appear in the original footage. The viral claim also falsely identifies Lt Gen Manoj Kumar Katiyar as the Army Chief, which is completely incorrect. He is the GOC-in-C Western Command, not the Chief of Army Staff.
The video being shared by Pakistani propaganda accounts is digitally manipulated and forms part of an ongoing disinformation campaign against India. There is no credible source, official statement, or verified report supporting the claim. The viral statement is entirely fake.
