Fact Check: Administration demolished illegal encroachments in Bahraich, propagandists circulate misleading claims

A video depicting a bulldozer demolishing houses has been circulated, suggesting it represents the persecution of a minority community. In reality, reports indicate that the Bahraich district administration demolished 23 illegal encroachments in a village in Kaiserganj, following a high court order. This action is unrelated to any religious persecution. The video itself notes that the demolition was conducted under court directives.

Sharing the video on X (Formerly Twitter) propagandist account @azizkavish wrote. “23 houses of Muslims were demolished in Bahraich due to a dispute over a 3 feet road between two parties. All the houses were built 40 years ago and more than 100 families lived in them”.

Another propaganda account @iamharunkhan has also disseminated the video and wrote. UP’s Bahraich, the administration bulldozed 23 Muslim houses in the name of Encroachment. FYI- Till October 1, there’s a blanket ban on demolitions across the country. #AllEyesOnIndianMuslims
