Fact Check: An old video of Indian Army Personnel warning Arunachal Pradesh police circulated as recent incident

A video featuring a man in uniform warning Arunachal Pradesh police personnel has circulated amidst the violence in Manipur, unrest in Bangladesh, and border tensions between India and Bangladesh. While the video is being presented as a recent incident. It is actually from 2018 and depicts an Army colonel expressing his anger over the harassment of Army soldiers.

Sharing the video on X (Formerly Twitter) @ghatakoperator wrote, Colonel Firdosh P. Dubash of 2 Arunachal Scouts warned SP that his troops were angered by the mistreatment and would not tolerate further harassment.

The truth about the video about warning Arunachal Pradesh police, Fact Check 

As soon as the posts containing the video and claims came to our notice. Subsequently, we conducted research and analysis of the video and found that the video was old, and no such incident occurred recently. 

To verify the claims made by the users. We performed a reverse image search of some key frames from the video on Google Lens. This led us to several media reports containing the same visuals published in November 2018. According to the media reports( 1, 2), on November 2, 2018, a group of soldiers allegedly misbehaved with civilians and policemen at the Buddha festival held in Bomdila in the West Kameng district. Two soldiers were brought to the local police station in this regard. After this, some soldiers vandalized the Bomdila police station and misbehaved with policemen and civilians. Later, the video of Army Colonel Firdaus went viral on social media. 

Therefore, it is evident from verified sources that the viral video of the Army colonel warning the Arunachal Pradesh police administration is not recent. But an old incident from 2018.

Influencers are circulating old videos and projecting recent ones to get the spotlight on social media.
