Pakistan-based anti-India propaganda accounts are circulating news about the supersonic cruise missile BrahMos. Several Pakistani accounts funded by ISPR have made posts on social media claiming that an Indian-made BrahMos missile exploded due to malfunction in the Philippines on July 2, 2024, killing 7 Philippine Navy personnel. In April 2024, India delivered BrahMos supersonic cruise missiles to the Philippines under a $375 million deal signed in 2022. Now, Pakistan-based anti-India propaganda accounts have disseminated false claims about it.

An account @TacticalTribun on X (Formerly Twitter) made a post and wrote. “Reports indicate that an Indian-made BrahMos missile exploded due to malfunction in the Philippines on July 2, 2024, killing 7 Philippine Navy personnel. The Philippines had recently purchased 3 BrahMos cruise missile batteries from India for $375 million.”

Another fake news peddler account, @IntelPk_ from Pakistan, also made a post regarding BrahMos and said. Explosion of Indian BrahMos missile in the Philippines. July 2, 2024: An Indian-made BrahMos missile exploded at the launch site in the Philippines, resulting in the death of seven Philippine Navy troops. Recently, The Philippines had purchased three BrahMos cruise missile batteries from India at a cost of USD 375 million.

As soon as the posts came to our knowledge, we tried to find the truth about the claims. After a thorough investigation, we did not find any recent news suggesting that a BrahMos missile exploded in the Philippines, killing Philippines Navy troops.

According to the latest reports, The Philippines wants more Brahmos missile batteries from India. The supersonic cruise missiles that have been delivered by India to Manila.

As per media reports, speaking at the Observer Research Foundation the Philippines envoy, Josel F. Ignacio said, BrahMos is a game changer for the Philippines in that it confers credible defence and deterrent capabilities.
