Images are circulating that falsely claim China has seized the exact location at Pangong Lake where the film “3 Idiots” was shot. Although there are reports of China building a bridge in the disputed Aksai Chin region, this bridge is located 25 km within the area controlled by China.
Several users including Bollywood actress Richa Chadha shared a postcard that claims that China has captured the location at Pangong Lake where the movie “3 Idiots” was filmed.
Sharing the postcard on X (Formerly Twitter), South Asian Files (@saNewsDaily) wrote. “#Chinese troops have entered #Indian territory #ArunachalPradesh. Including locations beautifully captured in the iconic movie #3Idiots, which now reportedly belong to #China. A serious concern is arising due to the incompetency of the #IndianArmy in protecting #borders”.

The truth about the claims of Pangong Lake, Fact Check
As soon as the posts containing the postcard and claims came to our notice. We conducted research and analysis of the claims and found that these claims are nothing but propaganda against India.
To verify the claims made by the users. We performed a relevant keyword search in different languages including Chinese and found no verified sources supporting the claims. However, we found several reports (1, 2) about China building a bridge in the disputed Aksai Chin region, this bridge is located 25 km within the area controlled by China.
During research, we found recent videos of several Indian vloggers and tourists visiting the area and shooting videos from the “3 Idiots Shooting Point”.
Also, two-thirds of Pangong Lake is indeed situated in Aksai Chin. The assertion that China has captured the specific filming location of “3 Idiots” is false and fabricated.
Therefore, it is evident from D-Intent Data’s Fact Check that the claims about China capturing the location at Pangong Lake where the film “3 Idiots” was shot are false and self-invented.
