Fact Check: Digitally manipulated screenshot of a YouTube video circulated with misleading claims

Anti-India propagandists and accounts run by racist extremists are circulating a doctored screenshot of a YouTube video by content creator Asian Andy. The manipulated caption falsely states, “I got chased by cops in India after I applied deodorant….” aiming to mislead viewers and damage India’s reputation. The original title of the video is, “I Got Chased By Cops in India After Doing This…”. In the video, he ripped off his T-shirt for which he was warned.

Serial fake news peddler, racist hate and misinformation propaganda account @GarbageHuman24 shared the screenshot on X (Formerly Twitter). The post has received more than 360k views, 14k likes and a significant number of engagements.

Several other extremist and racist accounts also shared the screenshot targeting Indians. Their posts can be seen here, @unionjacknigga, @itx_izayyyy

The truth about the viral screenshot of YouTube video, Fact Check

As soon as the posts containing the screenshots and claims came to our notice. Subsequently, we conducted research and analysis of the screenshot. We found that it was not real but digitally manipulated.

To verify the claims made by the propagandists. We visited the YouTube channel of Asian Andy and found the same video on his timeline. The original title of the video is, “I Got Chased By Cops in India After Doing This…” In reality, the video shows Asian Andy publicly ripping off his T-shirt, an act deemed inappropriate in many public spaces. While some policemen intervened to address his disruptive behaviour, they did not chase him, as the manipulated headline suggests. The self-proclaimed creator’s actions in the video consist primarily of drama and public nuisance, nothing else.

Therefore, it is evident from D-Intent Data’s Fact Check that the viral screenshot of Asian Andy’s YouTube video was not real. But digitally altered.
