Fact Check: Fake Video Falsely Claims Indian CDS Responded to Pakistani DG ISPR Threats

Pakistani propaganda accounts are circulating a digitally altered video of Indian Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) General Anil Chauhan. The video falsely claims that he responded to threats made by Pakistan’s DG ISPR. In the clip, he is alleged to have said that India would always attack from the “opposite direction” and dismissed Pakistan’s military assumptions. However, this claim is completely false and fabricated.

The fake clip was first shared by propaganda-linked accounts @InsiderWB and @TelegraphPak. It was later amplified by several other accounts, including @ItsSheherBano, @SyedaViews@Aqqssaa12, @MarkhorISI02, @il_jant, and @AdvAfshanAwan.

Truth: Original ANI Video Shows No Such Statement by CDS Anil Chauhan

As the false claim gained traction on social media, it drew our attention. The D-Intent Data Team conducted a detailed frame-by-frame investigation and keyword research.During analysis, we noticed unnatural hand movements, inconsistent eye motion, and abnormal facial expressions, which raised immediate suspicion. This prompted us to trace the source of the original footage. Our investigation led us to official videos posted by @ANI on January 7 in Delhi.

In the verified footage, CDS General Anil Chauhan was speaking at the birth centenary celebrations of Lt. Gen. S.K. Sinha. He spoke about General Sinha’s legacy, leadership, civil-military balance, and strategic thought. Importantly, he made no remarks about Pakistan, DG ISPR, or military threats. Therefore, the viral clip is digitally manipulated and does not reflect his actual speech.

Intent:

Propaganda accounts are circulating digitally altered videos of CDS Gen Anil Chauhan with self-invented claims to set their narrative against India.

Conclusion:

Fact: The video is digitally altered. CDS Anil Chauhan made no such statement.
