Fact Check: Jr NTR’s cutout caught fire during ‘Devara’ celebrations in Hyderabad, video circulated with misleading claims

A video has surfaced depicting a large cutout of Jr NTR engulfed in flames, leading to claims that it was deliberately set on fire by certain individuals. However, these allegations are unfounded. According to multiple media reports and local sources, the cutout actually caught fire as a result of firecrackers being used during a celebratory event for the ‘Devara’ in Hyderabad. This incident was purely accidental and has no connection to any form of protest or vandalism.

Sharing the video on X (Formerly Twitter) @RaeesHere_ wrote. “Fans Burning NTR Cutout Outside Hyderabad Theatre after the Initial Poor Ratings & Bad Talk for the Movie #Devara!”. The post has received more than 800k views, 8.9k likes and a significant number of engagements.

The truth about the video shared related to Devara in Hyderabad, Fact Check 

As soon as the posts containing the visuals and claims came to our notice. Subsequently, we conducted research and analysis of the incident and found that Jr NTR’s cutout caught fire during the celebration of the movie release in Hyderabad.

To verify the claims made by the users. We performed a reverse image search of some key frames from the viral video on Google Lens. This led us to initial posts and media reports. According to the media reports(1, 2, 3) and initial social media posts, the cutout caught fire due to firecrackers during the celebration in Hyderabad. It has nothing to do with protest or poor ratings.

Therefore, it is evident from various verified sources that the cutout caught fire accidentally. The claims are nothing but propaganda against the movie.

Social media users and influencers are circulating videos with misleading claims to set their narrative against the newly released ‘Devara’ movie.
