Fact Check: Man left Christianity in Kerala after getting regular rice instead of ‘Basmati?

A postcard has been circulating online, claiming that a man in Kerala abandoned Christianity after getting regular rice instead of ‘Basmati’. However, this sensational story is entirely fake and fabricated. The story originated from the Instagram account “One Cup – Two Guys” (1C2G), a page that regularly posts satirical content, memes, and jokes for entertainment purposes.

The statement reads, “BREAKING NEWS, A MAN LEAVES CHRISTIANITY IN KERELA AFTER GETTING REGULAR RICE INSTEAD OF ‘BASMATI’. The church says “low budget so, Only blessings for all”. It also includes a logo of 1C2G News.

The truth about the viral postcard says man leaves Christianity in Kerala, Fact Check 

As soon as the posts containing the postcard and claims came to our notice. Subsequently, we conducted research and analysis of the postcard and found that it was not actual news but a fake and fabricated story.

To verify the claims made by the users. We performed relevant keyword searches and found the same postcard on an Instagram account named “One Cup – Two Guys” (1C2G). The account describes itself as a comedy, jokes and meme page. 

Upon reviewing the account’s timeline, we found multiple satirical posts (1, 2, 3, 4) on various topics. The original post’s caption also includes hashtags like #Meme, indicating that it was created as a joke and not intended to be taken seriously.

Therefore, it is evident from D-Intent Data’s Fact Check that the viral postcard was fake and fabricated.
