Fact Check: Old Video Falsely Linked to Killing of Dipu Chandra Das in Bangladesh

A video showing an individual in police custody is being circulated on social media with claims that it depicts the final moments of Dipu Chandra Das, a Hindu man allegedly brutally killed by an extremist mob in Mymensingh, Bangladesh, amid ongoing unrest. This claim is false. The video is not related to Dipu Chandra Das or the incident in Mymensingh.

The misleading claim was shared and amplified by several social media accounts @PoornimaNimo, @FrontalForce, @MrSinha_, @choga_don, @pakistan_untold, @Goreunit, @smitadeshmukh, @ssaratht, and @singh_kikki. claiming that:
The last video of Dipu Chandra Das before his death, surrounded by Bangladeshi policemen. He was calling them “Bhai” and the policemen “Sir”. They did not even consider him a human being, let alone a brother.

Truth: Video Predates Incident and Is Unrelated to Mymensingh

As the false claim gained traction on social media, it drew our attention. The D-Intent Data Team conducted a detailed frame-by-frame investigation, upload history verification, and keyword research. Our investigation found that the viral video has been available online since at least November 18, 2025. It was originally uploaded by a Facebook account named Bhorer Kagoj and circulated with claims that it showed an incident related to Dhaka College, not Mymensingh. Although the original post was later deleted, archived versions of the video are still accessible, confirming its earlier circulation.

Importantly, no verified or credible sources link this video to Dipu Chandra Das or to any mob violence incident in Mymensingh. There is also no evidence confirming that the individual seen in police custody is the person referenced in the viral claims.

Intent:

Influencers are circulating unrelated videos from Bangladesh without providing the actual information to mislead common people.
