Fact Check: Old video of Hamas rocket attack on Ashdod falsely shared as Hezbollah attack on Israel’s Acre

A video depicting burning cars and black clouds of smoke following an attack has been circulated, falsely claiming to show a recent Hezbollah attack on Israel in Acre. However, D-Intent Data has discovered that this footage is from October 2023, documenting the aftermath of a rocket attack in Ashdod, which was carried out by Hamas, not Hezbollah.

Sharing the video on X (Formerly Twitter) Palestine supporter account @lifepeptides wrote. “Scenes from Acre, northern Israel, after the earlier Hezbollah attacks. Local residents can be heard not so pleased with the situation”.

Terror sympathizer, serial fake news peddler and anti-India propagandist account @DrLoupis also quoted the post and wrote, “Iron dome not working today?”

Several other users and influencers have also shared the video and made similar claims. Their posts can be seen here, @HollowDreams01, @Abbas_477

The truth about the video shared as Hezbollah attack, Fact Check

As soon as the posts containing the video and claims came to our notice. Subsequently, we conducted research and analysis of the video and found that the video was not recent. But an old video from October 2023.

To verify the claims made by the users. We performed a reverse image search of some key frames from the viral video on Google Lens. This led us to various media reports containing the same visuals, published in October 2023.
