On the early morning of July 30, 2024, a deluge of rain triggered devastating landslides in multiple villages of the Wayanad district in Kerala, resulting in a widespread catastrophe. As of the latest reports, the disaster has resulted in at least 373 confirmed fatalities, with over 273 individuals sustaining injuries and 180 others still unaccounted for. Amidst the distressing aftermath, a distressing video of trapped dog has been circulating on social media with only its head above the soil, purportedly linked to the recent Wayanad landslide.
However, thorough fact-checking has revealed that this video is actually from October 2021, showcasing a similar incident in Palakkad. Thankfully, the dog featured in the video was successfully rescued during that previous event. It’s important to note that there is no factual connection between this heart-wrenching video and the recent landslide in Wayanad.
