Fact Check: Old Video Shared as Recent Pro-Bolsonaro Rally in Brazil

A video showing a massive crowd waving Brazilian flags on Avenida Paulista in São Paulo is being shared with the claim that it captures a current rally supporting former President Jair Bolsonaro and demanding President Lula’s resignation. However, the truth is that this video is not recent — it has been available online since at least February 2024, and does not reflect any ongoing demonstration.

An account @visegrad24 posted:

“Hundreds of thousands of Brazilians have taken to the streets today in support of former President @jairbolsonaro and with the demand for President Lula to resign. This is Avenida Paulista in São Paulo right now.”

Truth: its and Old Bolsonaro Rally Clip Shared as New

As this post went viral, it drew our attention. The D Intent Data Team started the investigation immediately. We conducted a reverse image search using Google Lens and carried out a frame-by-frame analysis. We traced the video to a February 2024 upload on YouTube by the verified channel @radiobandeirantesoficial, confirming that the footage is months old. While it is true that some protests are ongoing amid Bolsonaro’s trial related to a 2023 coup plot, this particular video does not reflect any protest happening right now.
