Fact check: Scripted video of a street food vendor eating Pani puri from his own stall circulated with misleading claims

A video has recently been shared online, purporting to show a street food vendor eating Pani puri from his stall in an unhygienic manner. Several users and propagandists have shared the video and made false claims. However, this video is not genuine; it has been deliberately staged and does not accurately depict real-life events.

Sharing the video on X (Formerly Twitter), @MR_COOL77777 wrote, Abdul is infamous for no reason sir. The real filth is here. As of now, the post has received more than 250k views and a significant number of engagements.

Extremist and serial fake peddler propaganda account @AsianDigest has also shared the video and wrote, that Street Food Vendor Mukesh Tiwari was caught on Camera.

The truth about the viral video, Fact Check

As soon as the posts containing the video and claims came to our notice. Subsequently, we conducted research and analysis of the video and found that the video was not a real-life incident. But a scripted video created by content creators for entertainment and educational purposes only.

To verify the claims made by the users, we performed a reverse image search of some key frames from the viral video on Google Lens. This led us to a Facebook post containing the same video uploaded in June 2024. The video was uploaded by a content creator named Sanjjanaa Galrani with the caption, Health is wealth. The post also includes a disclaimer that reads, “Thank you for watching! Please be aware that this page features scripted dramas and parodies as well. These short films are for entertainment & educational purposes only! Characters in this video are entertainment and educational purposes”.

Therefore, it is evident from D-Intent Data’s Fact Check that the video doesn’t depict a real-life incident. But it was a scripted video created by content creators.
