Fact Check: Sri Lankan girl fell in love with a vlogger and content creator, video falsely linked to India

A video has recently been shared online claiming that a white man visiting India was worshipped as if he were a god by a local girl. However, the reality is quite different. The video is actually an old clip from Sri Lanka, where a Sri Lankan girl fell in love with a vlogger Wild Carlos. This video has nothing to do with India or an Indian girl. The narrative being pushed is misleading, and the video is falsely associated with India.

Sharing the video on X (Formerly Twitter) extremist, racist and propagandist account Barry Stanton (@barrystantonGBP) wrote. A white man goes to India and is literally worshipped as though he is a god.

The truth about the viral video of girl fell in love with a vlogger, Fact Check

As soon as the posts containing the video of a girl interacting with a content creator came to our notice. Instantly, we conducted research and analysis of the video and found that the viral video was not from India but an old video from Sri Lanka.

To verify the claims made by the users. We performed a reverse image search of some key frames from the viral video on Google Lens. This led us to an Instagram post containing the same video uploaded in February 2024. According to the Instagram post. The video was recorded in Sri Lanka where a Sri Lankan girl fell in love with a content creator named Wild Carlos and asked him for a kiss. Wild Carlos uploaded the video on his Instagram account with a caption that reads. “Sri Lankan girl falls in love with me and asks for a kiss”.

During research, we also found a longer version of the same video on his YouTube channel uploaded in February 2024. The video was uploaded with the title, “Sri Lankan girl falls in love with me and asks for a kiss”. The description reads I went to Mirissa Beach, one of the most famous beaches in Sri Lanka. I’m personally a big fan of Mirissa too, because that beach is divided into 2 (or even more) bays.

Therefore, it is evident from D-Intent Data’s Fact Check that the viral video of a girl interacting with a content creator is not from India. But an old video from Sri Lanka.
