Fact Check: Studies show 70% of Hindu men suffer from erectile dysfunction? 

Extremist propaganda accounts are spreading false claims that a study found 70% of Hindu men suffer from erectile dysfunction (ED). In reality, these claims are entirely fabricated, with no credible scientific study supporting such a statistic. ED is a medical condition influenced by factors such as age, lifestyle, medical history, and psychological well-being—it is not determined by religion.

Making a post on X (Formerly Twitter), serial fake news peddler and extremist propagandist account @CrimeReportsIND claimed, “Studies show 70% of Hindu men suffer from erectile dysfunction”

Another propaganda account, @Muhamma02292025, also made a post ( September 2024) and claimed, “Studies show 70% of Hindu men suffer from erectile dysfunction”.

As soon as the posts containing the claims came to our notice. Subsequently, we conducted research and analysis of the claims. We found that the claims were false and fabricated.

To verify the claims made by propagandists. We performed relevant keyword searches and thorough investigations but couldn’t find any credible sources supporting these claims. There is no credible scientific study that states that 70% of Hindu men suffer from (ED). Additionally, Erectile dysfunction is a medical condition influenced by various factors, including age, lifestyle, medical history, and psychological factors, but it is not determined by religion.

In Pakistan, a study reported an ED prevalence of 80.8% among men attending primary care clinics.  Additionally, in Bangladesh, research focusing on men with type 2 diabetes mellitus found an overall ED prevalence of 60.2%, with rates increasing from 35.5% in men aged 28-39 to 100% in those aged 60 and above.  

In India, studies suggest prevalence rates ranging from 15.77% in the general population to 78% among diabetic men. A comprehensive review reported global prevalence rates ranging from 3% to 76.5%, influenced by factors such as age, health conditions, and assessment methods.

Therefore, it is evident from D-Intent Data’s Fact Check that the claims were fake and self-invented.
