Truth Revealed: Viral Video is from Ujjain Clash, Not Ambedkar Statue

As soon as the viral posts came to our attention, the D-Intent Data team promptly initiated an investigation into the video. Through visual analysis and a reverse image search using Google Lens, we traced the footage to Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh, dated January 2024. Contrary to the viral claims, the video does not depict the vandalism of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar’s statue. Instead, it captures communal clashes between two groups—Malviyas (Scheduled Caste) and Patidars (OBC)—which reportedly erupted after Ambedkar followers vandalized a statue of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel in the Makdone tehsil of Ujjain. This incident was widely reported by mainstream media outlets, including Financial ExpressThe Indian Express, and Hindustan Times (YouTube coverage, January 2024).

It was verified by our team that this is an old incident unrelated to Dr. Ambedkar’s statue and that it has been wrongly linked in viral posts to push a misleading narrative.

Intent

This misinformation is being shared with the intent to frame the incident as caste-based violence and inflame social and political tensions.
