The contestant named Bhupendra in the edited viral video selected Shivraj Singh Chouhan’s option B, which is evidently the right response, earning him a Rs 20,000 prize.The internet is full of fake and doctored videos purporting to show a clip from Amitabh Bachchan’s game show Kaun Banega Crorepati, in which the actor calls Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan “the announcement minister”.
A fake digitally altered video circulated features Amitabh Bachchan asking a question. The Bharatiya Janata Party’s Shivraj Singh Chouhan was the target of a KBC video. After the clip went viral on social media, fans of Kaun Banega Crorepati were in for a rude awakening. Several fan pages of the show shared the tweets and the video.
We observed that the lip sync in the video did not match the voiceover reading the question, nor did it sound like actor Amitabh Bachchan.
The original question which was asked for ₹ 20K was, “Which of these films is not about a Sportsperson?” by the host of the show Amitabh Bachchan. The options given to the contestant were A) Saina B) Piku C) Bhaag Milkha Bhaag D) Well done Mitthu.
Sony TV’s statement :
Following the widespread distribution of a fake video purporting to be of Kaun Banega Crorepati, Sony TV announced that it is taking the matter up with the cybercrime unit. They stated, “We have been alerted to the circulation of an unauthorised video from our show, ‘Kaun Banega Crorepati’. This video misleadingly overlays a fabricated voice-over of our host and presents distorted content. Upholding the show’s integrity and our viewers’ trust is paramount, and we are actively addressing this matter with the cyber crime cell. We strongly condemn such misinformation, urge our audience to be vigilant, and refrain from sharing unverified content.” .
