Analysis and Fact
We have researched well to find out that the information spread on social media is not true. The information which has been spread widely are just the rumors circulating that Prime Minister Netanyahu of Israel is sending his son to enlist in the military. It is a fact that all the 18-year old citizens of Israel are required to serve in the Israeli Army for a certain amount of time. Special provisions are made for religious male soldiers, and religious girls may be exempted from regular army duty or substituted for national service. Nonetheless, it is well known that army veterans have greater career success after being released from service.
We have seen that the incident was compared with India, that, whether any of our leaders have that strength and potential to send their son or daughter to the army. We have found Jagran News published an article where a few well-known instances of Indian politician’s children who decided to enlist in the Indian Armed Forces in order to support their nation was posted. It showed several examples of the unwavering devotion to duty of Indians joining the army and demonstrates that social or political barriers cannot stop the call of patriotism. These people have made a lasting impression on the nation’s history, and their unwavering commitment will always serve as an inspiration to coming generations. MP Ravi Kishan’s daughter became ‘Agniveer’ under Agneepath scheme. Captain Sachin Pilot became the first Union Minister of Inida to be appointed as an officer in the Territorial Army. Anurag Thakur, son of former CM Prem Kumar Dhumal is also serving in the Indian Army. Not only the sons, but, also, the daughters are serving the nation. Shreyashi Pokhriyal, daughter of MP Ramesh Pokhriyal, is also serving the Indian Army. Namita Pant, daughter of Prakash Pant, is proudly serving the nation. This shows several examples that the information spread was misleading and cannot be compared with that of our nation.
We got clarity from this article to get a history of the Netanyahu family. Serving in the IDF is a proud family tradition for the Netanyahus. In 1945, Shmuel Ben-Artzi, the father of Sara Netanyahu, was a member of the Etzel underground military group. Ben-Artzi served in the Haganah, which evolved into the IDF, from 1946 to 1948. The Prime Minister was an officer in the elite Sayeret Matkal commando unit himself. During the historic Operation Entebbe in 1976, when a group of Israeli Defence Forces soldiers liberated Israeli hostages in Uganda, his brother Yonatan was the only soldier to die.
Despite being offered a position in the army’s media corps, Israeli Prime Minister’s son Avner decided to serve in combat. In 2014, with great media attention, Avner was drafted into the IDF. In 2017, he completed his mandatory duty with the IDF.
The chairman of LIBI USA, an organisation that provides welfare support for Israeli soldiers outside of the IDF budget, Dr. John A.I. Grossman, stated, “We are proud of every IDF soldier and wish each of them health and safety during their service.” “It is a statement of unity that the prime minister’s sons served in the IDF, as all Israelis must send their children into the army. We are honored to help this ‘army of the people’ any way that we can.”
After all the careful analysis, D-Intent Data claims that the picture of Israeli Prime Minister sending his son Avneer to join the army spread is fake and misleading.
