When Congress leader Kamalnath was the chief minister of Madhya Pradesh, the original video was shot in January 2020. The state’s alcohol policy under the previous Kamalnath administration is criticised by the opposition Chouhan.

Shivraj Chauhan refuted the allegation in June of 2020 and filed a lawsuit against those who circulated the fake footage.
