Pratapgarh, Rajasthan— Video Showing Husband And Family Members Harassing A Woman Circulated With False Claims: Fact-Check 

Claiming that in a recent incident in Rajasthan, upper-caste criminals broke into a Dalit woman’s home, raped her, stripped her nude, and paraded her in public, a disturbing old video of a man harassing a woman has gone viral.

Kavita Yadav (“@KavitaWrites“) tweeted “In Rajasthan, these upper caste criminals entered the house of a Dalit woman and raped her. Why are these savage beasts so eager to devour only the unarmed women of the lower caste?” after sharing the video of the incident on Dec 26, 2023. The tweet has received an about 214.9k views on X.

Several other accounts, including Sikhs are not Hindu (“@cHindus_rock“) made the same claim that in Rajasthan, India, a woman is publicly paraded after being stripped, harassed, and harassed. The archive can be read from above.

What is the Actual Truth About this Incident? : Fact

In actuality, this is an old video that captures a woman in Pratapgarh, Rajasthan, in September 2023, being harassed by her husband and family. Rape and  caste-based hate crimes  are unrelated to it.

The woman was reportedly seeing another man and was in a relationship with him, according to preliminary inquiries. The 11 accused—including the woman’s husband—were apprehended by the police very quickly after the incident.

The image was shared with the caption “A viral video showed the woman being stripped naked by her husband. (Source: India Today)” on September 2, 2023. abp Live also posted the article on this incident on September 4, 2023 and shared the image of the accused, who were arrested. It clarified in details about the incident and also confirmed that the victim filed a complaint against her husband, Kanha Gameti, as well as Suraj, Beniya, Netiya, Nathu, and Mahendra, alleging that they forcibly took her on a motorcycle and paraded her naked as per the police.

Propagandists are circulating old videos with false claims to set their propaganda to create disharmony. After proper research, analysis and fact-checking, we have discovered that the claims made were not true. What actually happened was that this is an old video from September 2023 in Pratapgarh, Rajasthan, showing a woman being harassed by her husband and family. Rape and caste-based hate crimes  have nothing to do with it. It has been discovered through initial investigations that the woman was in a relationship with another man. The police moved quickly to apprehend the 11 people accused of being involved in the incident, including the woman’s husband.
