Chandauli, Uttar Pradesh — Old Video Of EVMs Being Shifted In Presence Of Political Parties Resurfaced With False Claims: Fact-Check 

It has been claimed that residents discovered over 300 electronic voting machines (EVM) from a store in the Chandauli district, based on a video that has been circulated that shows people shifting EVMs.

Several other accounts, including Ankit Singh (“@AnkitRadheY007“), @Sbchauhan0103, Sasikant Singh (“@SASIKANTSINGH10“), Gurjar (“@PratiharSurendr“) also made the same claim that over 300 electronic voting machines (EVM) were caught from a shop in the Chandauli district. What is the Actual Truth About this Incident? : Fact

In actuality, this is an outdated video from 2019; the police claim that the images and videos were captured during the Lok Sabha elections of that year, when political party representatives were present when VVPATs were being moved. At that point, no anomalies with the EVM storage had been found. Those disseminating outdated videos with untrue assertions face legal action.

The official account of @chandaulipolice tweeted “The above video is of the time of depositing the EVM after the General Elections-2019, which is being rumored as current. A case has been registered against the person who posted the priority. Legal action will be taken by registering a case against those spreading such misleading rumours.” on Jan 31, 2024.

@chandaulipolice further attached officially that case is being registered against the person spreading false and misleading news and strict action will be taken. The tweet was made on Jan 31, 2024.

@dmchandauli confirmed in a tweet on Jan 29, 2024 that the video is from the year 2019 Lok Sabha elections. At that time VVPAT was shifted in the presence of representatives of political parties.

Besides, @dmchandauli confirmed that a legal action is being taken agansit the person who has spread this misleading news to many users.
