Verified accounts on twitter, including @Awhadspeaks tweeted “In #Manipur women broke the #EVM after they saw that after pressing any button they could see only lotus being printed A call for immediate intervention of #SupremeCourt Y does not it happen that #BJP workers get angry seeing some other party symbol being printed @ECISVEEP” on April 27, 2024. The tweet has received an about 537.4k views on X.

Several other accounts, including @Kalaignarnews, @vilas1818, @INCUttarPradesh made the same claim that women in Manipur broke the EVM when they saw that pressing any button was leading to only lotus being printed. The archive can be read from above.

What is the Actual Truth About this Incident? : Fact

The truth is that these accusations are false and unfounded. This video shows residents vandalising EVMs at a polling booth in Moirang Kampu, Manipur, claiming ‘proxy voting’. There’s nothing to do with EVM fraud. So, the claim that women in Manipur broke the EVM after only lotus being printed, even after pressing any button is not true at all. The video was uploaded in Youtube on April 19, 2024.
