Woman Pressed SP’s Cycle Button on the EVM, But The Slip Was Printed With BJP’s Lotus During Voting in Lakhimpur Kheri? Fact-Check

A woman is seen in a video alleging that when voting in Lakhimpur Kheri, the Samajwadi Party (Cycle) button on the electronic voting machine caused the slip to print BJP’s (Lotus).

Verified accounts on twitter, including @MediaCellSP added “Voted for cycle on EVM, cycle button was pressed but in VVPAT lotus flower was printed and slip fell” in a twitter post on May 13, 2024, The tweet has received an about 65.7k views on X.

Several other accounts, including @SachinGuptaUP, @SupriyaShrinate, @_sayema, @NigarNawab, @ultachasmauc made the same claim that a woman said that during voting in Lakhimpur Kheri, the BJP’s (Lotus) logo appeared  when she hit the Samajwadi Party (Cycle) button on the electronic voting machine. What is the Actual Truth About this Incident? : Fact

The truth is that these assertions are unfounded and fraudulent. DM Lakhimpur Kheri affirmed that the accusations have been determined to be unfounded and refuted any occurrence of EVM fraud. But afterwards, the woman acknowledged that she had pressed the incorrect button. So, the claim that the woman hit the Samajwadi Party (Cycle) button on the EVM during voting in Lakhimpur Kheri, but the slip was printed with the BJP’s (Lotus) logo is not true at all.
