Fact Check: Air hostess trainee murdered in Patiala, image surfaced with communal claims 

A sensitive image showing the body of a young girl lying on the ground is being circulated with the false claim that a Muslim man named Mohammad Abid killed his Hindu wife, Neelam, and threw her body into a river. In reality, this claim is entirely untrue. The image is connected to the recent murder of an air hostess trainee in Patiala, whose body was recovered from the Bhakra Canal.

Sharing the image on X (Formerly Twitter) @Warlock_Shubh wrote, “A heroine and a tragedy! The shocking news coming from a man who do namaj five times a day, When five months had passed, he packed his Hindu wife into a suitcase because Mohammad Abid wanted a new wife, but Neelam could not accept this. Abid packed Neelam in a suitcase and threw it into river. Before marriage, Neelam’s relatives & friends tried to counsel Neelam not to marry Abid but she insisted, “Not all people are the same. You all are full of hatred.”

The truth about the viral image, Fact Check 

As soon as the posts containing the image and claims came to our notice. Subsequently, we conducted research and analysis of the incident. We found that the incident was unrelated to a religious hate crime. 

To verify the claims made by the users. We performed a reverse image search using Google Lens and conducted a relevant keyword search. These actions led us to media reports regarding the incident. According to the reports (1, 2, 3), The image is connected to the recent murder of an air hostess trainee in Patiala, whose body was recovered from the Bakhra Canal. The deceased girl, identified as Nisha Soni, a native of Mandi in Himachal Pradesh, was residing in Chandigarh to complete her air hostess training course. Reports confirm that the accused, Yuvraj, who was her friend, has been arrested.

Therefore, it is evident from verified sources that the claims about Muslim individuals being involved in the incidents were false and baseless.
