Fact Check: Scripted video of an elderly person touching a woman inappropriately circulated with misleading claims

A video has circulated online, showing an elderly man inappropriately touching a burqa-clad woman on a bridge, misleadingly presented as a real incident. However, D-Intent Data has found that this video was scripted and not based on actual events.

Sharing the video on X (Formerly Twitter) serial fake news peddler and propagandist account @RealBababanaras wrote. There were foul language in the video so it was muted. This is a video from Bangladesh. Look at the age of the old man Mohammad Baasim and later when the girl slapped him twice, Mohammad Baasim is saying that he was in a hurry so he got hit by mistake.

Another propaganda account @jpsin1 has also shared the video and said. There were abusive words in the video so it was muted. This is a video from Bangladesh. Look at the age of the old man. And later when the girl slapped him twice, the old man said that I was in a hurry so it touched me by mistake. (Translated from Hindi)

The truth about the video, Fact Check

As soon as the posts containing the video and claims came to our notice. Subsequently, we conducted research and analysis of the video and found that the individuals involved in the dispute were content creators from Bangladesh.

To verify the claims made by the users. We performed a reverse image search of some key frames from the viral video on Google Lens. This led us to some social media posts containing visuals depicting the same individuals. During research, we found a Facebook account named ‘Azizul 2.0’ that uploaded multiple videos (1, 2, 3, 4 ) featuring the same individuals.

Upon visiting the timeline of the account we found that all of the videos are scripted and created for entertainment purposes. The user has mentioned in his bio that he is a video creator. We also found another video featuring the elderly person and the woman on the same bridge.

Therefore, it is evident from D-Intent Data’s Fact Check that the video of an elderly person touching inappropriately a woman was not real, but a scripted video created by content creators from Bangladesh.
