Fact Check: Viral Video of ‘Naga Girl’ Insulting Indian Flag Is Pakistani Propaganda

A video featuring a Naga girl claiming to be from Nagaland, disrespecting the Indian national flag, and calling for Nagaland’s independence is being widely shared across social media. The clip is being circulated by Pakistani propaganda accounts to malign India’s image. Our investigation shows that the Sophia Naga account is newly created and uses old photos of Naga girls. There is no verified evidence that this incident occurred or that the person exists.

An influencer account @hardliner_0 posted this clip with caption that:

A brave Naga girl burned the Indian flag in response to terrorism in Balochistan, we can suddenly see that every freedom movement within India has gained momentum. The rules of the game are indeed changing!

Other accounts like @Souravpanjab and @sumonkais also give push to this propaganda narrative.

The account @SophiaNaga, which spread this narrative widely on social media, her account has been suspended. but the archive link of the profile is available.

On facebook this @SophiaNaga and Rumble 101 posted this video too with the same claim.
A repeated Propaganda spreading form @SophiaNaga account pushing this narrative further:

They came at night, broke my home, kidnapped my husband For burning Indian flag, they tortured my mother But I burnt it on my land & in my country Nagaland Sophia Naga speaks with bruises on body “I won’t be silent.I’ll burn this flag again. Long live Nagaland.Shame on you, India”

Truth about video shared as Naga girl burning Indian Flag

As the video gained traction online, it caught the attention. The D Intent Data Team starts the investigation. we conduct a reverse image search of the video and analyze the video frame by frame. Our investigation opens everything. The account behind the video—SophiaNaga”—was created just five days prior to the video’s circulation. The profile uses random images of Naga women that have long been available online. No verified or credible sources report any such incident taking place in Nagaland, nor do they confirm the identity or authenticity of the so-called “Sophia Naga.”

Also, the way the girl speaks—her accent and pronunciation—doesn’t sound like someone from Nagaland. Most of the accounts interacting with her posts are from Pakistan, suggesting that this was a coordinated attempt to spread false narratives.

This misleading video is not an isolated incident. Several Pakistani accounts have shared and promoted this narrative across platforms in an attempt to spread anti-India sentiment.

INTENT:

Pakistan-based accounts are circulating propaganda videos to set their narrative against India and hide the atrocities in Balochistan.
