Fact Check: Viral video showing police assaulting Ambedkar followers is actually a movie scene

A video showing police beating half-naked individuals on a busy street is being falsely shared with the claim that it shows real policemen punishing Ambedkar followers for threatening ‘Manuvadis.’ However, this is not true. The video is a scene from the shooting of a film, not a real-life incident.

An account named @Modified_Hindu9 posted the video with the provocative caption suggesting a violent crackdown on Ambedkarites.

The Bhimta gang, which was threatening Manuwadis on Instagram, got served today. Tochan Zindabad

Another account @bhimta_bsdk share the same post with same claim:

Several other handles like @realMishkat, and @vikashaps further amplified this false narrative, attempting to provoke communal sentiments and glorify violence under a fake premise.

Truth Behind the Video: It’s From a Film Set

As the video gained traction, the D-Intent Data Team launched an investigation. We conducted a reverse image search and frame-by-frame analysis, which led us to several YouTube videos clearly showing this is a movie shoot. Sources such as Kannada Pichhar and Cini Express Kannada shared behind-the-scenes footage confirming that the scene was staged and not real police action.

Intent:

Propagandist accounts are sharing staged content with inflammatory captions to target specific communities and push political narratives.
