Fact Check: No Global Firepower Index 2026 Ranking Showing Pakistan Above India

Pakistani propaganda accounts are circulating false and fabricated claims alleging that the Global Firepower Index 2026 has ranked Pakistan as the 4th most powerful military in the world while placing India at 12th. The viral list claims it reflects post–“Operation Banyan al Marsus” rankings. This claim is false and misleading. As of now, the Global Firepower Index has not released any official 2026 military strength rankings, and the circulating list has no basis in verified data.

The fake ranking list was posted and amplified by propaganda account @Hawkss_eye, which falsely attributed the rankings to the Global Firepower Index 2026 and claimed Pakistan had overtaken India militarily.

Truth: Global Firepower’s Official website shows 2025 rankings

As the false claim gained traction on social media, it drew our attention. The D-Intent Data Team conducted a detailed frame-by-frame investigation and keyword research. Our investigation led us directly to the official Global Firepower website, which currently displays only the 2025 Military Strength Rankings. According to the Global Firepower Index 2025:

  • India is ranked 4th globally
  • Pakistan is ranked 12th globally

There is no official Global Firepower Index 2026 page, no published PowerIndex scores for 2026, and no announcement confirming the release of new rankings. Therefore, any list claiming to represent Global Firepower Index 2026 is entirely fabricated.

Intent:

Propaganda accounts are circulating false and fabricated claims about military strength to set their narrative against India.
