Fact Check: Ayodhya rape case accused is not from the Hindu community, as claimed by users

On July 29, a rape case was filed against a bakery owner and Samajwadi Party member and his employee for allegedly raping the girl and recording the act two months ago. The incident came to light when the girl was taken to a hospital after she complained of stomach pain.

Subsequently, social media users including political workers circulated false claims about the religious identity of the accused. The users have claimed that one of the accused Raju belonged to the Hindu community. However, D-Intent Data’s Fact Check revealed that the accused Raju’s full name is Raju Khan and doesn’t belong to the Hindu community.

Sharing an interview video of a few women, Samajwadi party leader IP Singh said. Why are we all insisting that a DNA test be done because Raju had a love affair with that girl. Raju is a Hindu. He used to work in a bakery. BJP leaders forcefully dragged the 72-year-old bakery owner into this case for being a Muslim. Today the Yogi government is doing politics in this false fabricated case. The Hon’ble High Court should take cognizance of this. And the girl’s security should be increased and she should be shifted to AIIMS. Later, he deleted the post.

The truth behind the claims of rape case, Fact Check

As soon as the posts containing the claims came to our notice, we conducted research and analysis of the incident and found that the identity of the accused was being misrepresented.

To verify the claims made by the political workers. We ran a relevant keyword search on Google which led us to media reports regarding the incident. According to the media reports, both the accused have been identified as Moid Khan, 65 and his 22-year-old employee Raju Khan. This indicates that he does not belong to the Hindu community. Both Raju Khan and co-accused Mohid Khan have been arrested and are in judicial custody. Moreover, the police have also responded to the post and mentioned the accused name as Raju Khan.

Hence, it is evident from D-Intent Data’s Fact Check that the accused Raju Khan doesn’t belong to the Hindu community as claimed by the political workers.
