However, D-Intent Data has discovered that the house doesn’t belong to Hindu cricket player Liton Das. In reality, the house belonged to a lawmaker and former captain Mashrafe Bin Mortaza.
False claims disseminated
Several users, influencers, propagandists and media outlets have circulated the image. And claimed that Bangladesh Hindu cricketer Liton Das’ house was burned down by the protestors.
Sharing the image an account @randomsena on X (Formerly Twitter) said. Bangladeshi Cricketer Liton Das’s house was set on fire just because HE IS HINDU. No Matter Who you are (Pro Hindu or Secular/Leftist). You will be attacked because you are just another KAFIR FOR THEM. Later, he deleted the post.

Propaganda account @SaffronSunanda has also shared the image and wrote, He is Liton Das, a Bangladeshi cricketer. He is a national Hero of Bangladesh. His house was set on fire by Islamists. This is the condition of an elite Hindu of Bangladesh. Just imagine the condition of common Hindus.
Another propaganda account @MithilaWaala on X has also disseminated the image and wrote, Bangladesh: House of Hindu cricketer Litton Das burnt down by protestors. You still think these are students protesting !! They are targeting every single Hindu in the country.

The truth behind the viral claims about Liton Das’s house set on fire, Fact Check
As soon as the posts containing the image and claims came to our notice we conducted research and found that these claims are not true, because the house doesn’t belong to the Bangladeshi Hindu cricket player Liton Das.
In reality, the house belonged to former Bangladesh captain and lawmaker Mashrafe Bin Mortaza.
To verify the claims made by the social media users, we performed a reverse image search on Google which led us to media reports containing the same image. According to the media reports, the house shown in the image belonged to former captain and lawmaker Mashrafe Bin Mortaza. The report states that some people vandalised and set fire to the house of Mashrafe Bin Mortaza, a lawmaker from the Narail-2 constituency.
Hence, it is evident from D-Intent Data’s Fact Check that the viral image doesn’t belong to Hindu cricket player Liton Das’ house, but former Bangladesh captain and lawmaker Mashrafe Bin Mortaza.
