Fact Check: Bangladeshi Hindu man Mukund Mritunjay Das Bramhachari shot dead by the BSF attempting to enter India?

An image of an unconscious individual has been circulating online, with false claims suggesting that a Bangladeshi Hindu man named Mukund Mritunjay Das Bramhachari was shot dead by the BSF while attempting to enter India. However, D-Intent Data has found that he was a devoted ISKCON member who passed away from a stroke in March 2024. His death had no connection to the BSF or any border-related incident.

Sharing the image on X (Formerly Twitter) propagandist account @RadharamnDas wrote. Mukund Mritunjay Das Bramhachari was shot dead by the BSF when he tried to enter India, dressed in his saffron clothes, thinking that since Muslims also cross like this & BSF don’t act. But BSF shot him dead. Mritunjay Mukund Das was trying to get visa for last 3 years, but Indian Embassy in Dhaka refused him visa. While Indian Embassy easily gives visa to Muslims, they create problems for Hindus.

The truth about the image, Fact Check

As soon as the posts containing the image and claims came to our notice. Subsequently, we conducted research and analysis of the image and found that the image was old and unrelated to killing at the India-Bangladesh border.

To verify the claims made by the users. We performed a reverse image search on Google Lens but couldn’t find any verified source. Further, we ran a relevant keyword search and found a Facebook post regarding Mukund Mritunjay Das Bramhachari. According to Noakhali ISKCON, he was a devoted member of ISKCON and passed away from a stroke in March 2024. Hence, his death had no connection to the BSF or any border incident.

Therefore, it is evident from D-Intent Data’s Fact Check that the image was old and unrelated to the killing of any Hindu individuals at the India-Bangladesh border.
