Fact Check: Digitally altered image of Mohammed Amin al-Husseini circulated with misleading claims

A digitally manipulated image of Mohammed Amin al-Husseini, the former Grand Mufti of Jerusalem, is currently circulating online, claiming he resembles Canadian actor Ryan Gosling. However, D-Intent Data has found that the image of Amin al-Husseini was digitally altered, the original, unmodified photographs of al-Husseini show that he does not resemble Gosling at all.

Sharing the image on X (Formerly Twitter) @ApostateProphet wrote, “I can’t be the only one who thinks the Nazi Grand Mufti Amin al-Husseini and Ryan Gosling look identical”. The post has received more than 80k views and a significant number of engagements. 

The truth about the image of Mohammed Amin al-Husseini, Fact Check 

As soon as the posts containing the image of Mohammed Amin al-Husseini and Ryan Gosling came to our notice, we conducted research and analysis of Husseini’s image and found that the image had been digitally altered. 

To verify the claims made by the users, we performed a reverse image search on Google Lens. This led us to multiple sources containing the original image(1, 2). The original, unmodified photographs of al-Husseini show no resemblance to Ryan Gosling. 

Therefore, it is evident from verified sources that the image was not real. But digitally altered and shared with misleading claims.
