Digitally Altered Image Of Mohamed bin Zayed Shaking Hands With PM Narendra Modi Circulated With False Claims: Fact-Check

A photo that has been digitally modified and circulated as authentic shows Prime Minister Narendra Modi shaking hands with Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the President of the United Arab Emirates and the Ruler of Abu Dhabi who is wearing a saffron attire.

@SSumitgudi5294 claimed the same in a twitter post that Prime Minister Narendra Modi shaked hands with Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, who was wearing the saffron clothes. The tweet was made on Feb 4, 2024.

The picture once again became viral with the same claim during 2019. @CSAshokRai1 claimed that Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan shaked hands with PM Narendra Modi wearing saffron clothes. The archive can be read from above.

What is the Actual Truth About this Incident? : Fact

The truth is that this photo has been digitally altered and is not real. The original photo, which was taken in 2019 to commemorate Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s receipt of the UAE’s highest civilian award, the “Order of Zayed,” featured him dressed in traditional Arab attire. Over the years, there have been multiple circulations of this fake and digitally altered photo.

@MohamedBinZayed tweeted “Mohamed bin Zayed presents the Indian Prime Minister with the Zayed Medal in recognition of his role in promoting friendship and cooperation; witnesses the launch of a special commemorative stamp to mark the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi.” on August 24, 2019.

Again, he made another tweet on August 24, 2019. @MohamedBinZayed tweeted “Mohammed bin Zayed awards the Prime Minister of India the Zayed Medal in recognition of his role in strengthening friendly relations and cooperation between the two countries. He witnesses the launch of a special commemorative postage stamp on the occasion of the 150th anniversary of the birth of Mahatma Gandhi.”

Further, on August 25, 2019, he made a post officially sharing the pictures from the event. @MohamedBinZayed tweeted “Mohammed bin Zayed honored the Indian Prime Minister with the Zayed Medal for his role in promoting friendship and cooperation. On this occasion, a special commemorative stamp commemorating the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi was released in his presence.”
