Fact Check: False Claims Spread via Viral Video of Pakistan Army Chief at LoC

A social media video featuring Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff (COAS), General Asim Munir, has gone viral amid rising tensions between India and Pakistan. The video shows General Munir visiting the Line of Control (LoC) in Kashmir, seemingly to assess combat readiness and boost troop morale. However, the video is not related to the current situation—it actually dates back to December 2022.

Influencer @SAnPerspective Shared this clip with the claim:

Many influencers and propagendist accounts (@ShamaJunejo, @KhurramShirmeen, @Info_Tracks) are spreading the same rumor that Pakistan is preparing for a military response on all platforms, which is inciting public anxiety and speculation.

The Reality: No Recent Visit by Pakistan’s Army Chief to the LoC

When this viral video caught our attention, D-Intent Data launched an investigation to verify its authenticity. We analyzed the clip frame by frame, conducted reverse image searches. After going through all the minor details. we confirmed that the video is outdated and unrelated to the current situation. It was originally recorded in December 2022, shortly after General Asim Munir was appointed Chief of Army Staff (COAS), during a routine tour of army installations. News coverage from that time clearly shows that the visit was part of his early tenure and had no connection to any recent conflict or activity along the Line of Control (LoC).

No reliable source has confirmed the Pakistan Army Chief’s recent visit to the Line of Control. It is only a rumor and misinformation being spread by some influencers on social media.
