Fact Check: Image of a chef and entrepreneur shared as Jayant Bhandari

Images featuring anti-India propagandist Jayant Bhandari and a chef are being circulated with the false claim that Bhandari works as a waiter at an Indian restaurant in Toronto. However, our investigation found that the person dressed as a chef was not Jayant Bhandari but Harish Closepet, a chef and entrepreneur.

Sharing the images on X (Formerly Twitter), propagandist account @HPhobiaWatch wrote, “Ring leader of Brown sepoy Jayant Bhandari is actually a waiter at an Indian restaurant in Toronto”.

Several other users and Influencers have also disseminated the claims. Their posts can be seen here, @ramsitakrishna, @Kishkinde.

The truth behind the claims about Jayant Bhandari, Fact Check

As soon as the posts containing the images and claims came to our notice. Subsequently, we conducted research and analysis of the images. We found that both images feature two different individuals.

To verify the claims made by the users. We performed a reverse image search using Google Lens. This led us to an Instagram post containing images of the same individual. We found that the image was uploaded on the Harish Closepet ( @harrys_lunchbox) account. We found multiple photos depicting the same person. The person dressed as a chef is not Jayant but Harish Closepet, a chef and entrepreneur.

Therefore, it is evident from D-Intent Data’s Fact Check that the image was not related to Jayant.
