An image showing a child’s foot protruding from rubble has recently been shared online, with claims that it depicts the aftermath of the ongoing Israel-Palestine conflict. However, D-Intent Data has discovered that the image is not from the current conflict but is actually an older photograph taken in Syria.
Sharing the image on X (Formerly Twitter) serial fake news peddler and propagandist account @DrLoupis wrote, “This is terrorism!”. She used the Israeli flag in the post to indicate that Israel has done it to the children in Gaza. The post has received more than 160k views, 11k likes and a significant number of engagements.

The truth about the viral photo, Fact Check
As soon as the posts containing the disturbing and heart-wrenching image and claims came to our notice. Subsequently, we conducted research and analysis of the image and found that the image was not from the Israel-Palestine conflict but an old image from Syria.
To verify the claims made by the users. We performed a reverse image on Google Lens. This led us to a media report and initial social media posts containing the same image uploaded in 2016. According to the media report, this is an old image from Qamishli, Syria where ISIS attacked civilians in July 2016. Hence, It has nothing to do with the ongoing Israel-Palestine conflict.
Therefore, the viral image of a child’s foot sticking out from a rubble is not recent but old image from Syria.

Social media users, influencers and propagandists are circulating old images from Syria with misleading claims to set their narrative against Israel over the war in Gaza.
